I attended the Asian Festival of Children's Content 2011 (AFCC) last month. The festival had an array of activities such as the Asian Children's Writers and Illustrators Conference, Asian Children's Publishers Symposium, Asian Children's Media Summit, Asian Primary and Preschool Teachers Congress and Masterclass in Picture Book in three languages. All these were over a span of five days from 26-30 May 2011.
I am blessed and thankful to be able to attend the all the activities this year. I attended the Masterclass in Picture Book (in English) too. I gain so much knowledge, met a diverse bunch of people and attained some useful skills. The activities occur concurrently, therefore, an attendee has the option of choosing the workshops or sessions he/she is interested in. I highly recommend those who are passionate about children's literature and education to attend the AFCC next year. It will be held in the same month, May, of next year, 2012. I am sure it gets better and better over the years.
I will be posting more about my AFCC 2011 experience and purchases. I am a children's book collector, hence, my keen eye and spirit for children's books. I purchased five books from the Media Mart (the AFCC 'bookstore'). Look out for the next post!
